Latest News
Post: December 2006
Just time for a quick note, to let you know that (A) I'm still alive, and (B) even though this last couple of months has been extremely quiet, there's some big happenings planned for 2007. Hopefully they'll more than make up for the lack of action The Hunted has seen!
I'd like to take this moment to wish you and everyone you know an awesome Christmas and New Year, and be ready for some great things in the next few months!
Bet you wasn't expecting another update so soon (or at all)! But here we go with a brand-new batch of Predator goodness.
To begin with, we have a couple of new pictures added to the Images gallery, including a cool tattoo from Eric G, amongst others. Go have a look!
And there's also been some additions to the Links page, with a special entry from Andrew of WeldArt, here in Aussieland! Take it away, Andrew: "I have just started up a new business in Australia selling handmade sculptures made from
new and used car parts. You may have even seen them before (I am importing them not making them). I have all sorts of models including various characters from sci-fi movies such as Predator, Alien and Star Wars. You must agree that they look stunning."
I do agree, my friend... I'd love to have someone walk into my yard to be faced with a big metallic Pred! So, check the Misc Predator Links to see what Andrew's site, and the others, have to offer.
And in another section, an email from Liam wonders about one of Billy's lines in the original film. Take a look at the Mailbag page to see what that's all about.
I probably missed mentioning something that's been updated, but I'm sure you won't mind!
Another month passed already? Somebody stop them! It'll be Christmas soon... gah.
Right, straight to AvP2. There's been lots happening on the cast and filming front -- it's getting interesting now, and I'm slowly starting to feel optimistic, but I won't count my facehuggers until they're hatched! Anyway, go over to the Alien Vs Predator 2 page for all the old and new interviews and rumours.
And in another section, an email from Alecia helpfully informed me that I was missing the Dark Horse Presents #119 comic. Thanking you, Alecia! Take a look at the Comics and Books page to see what it's all about.
There's still more to come on the horizon, so I'll be seeing you soon!
A little light on updates this month, aren't we... but never fear, there's lots of interesting developments regarding AvP2. For starters, the infamous 'Texas' script is either being dropped, or heavily edited -- some good news at last -- and with any luck, it's because Hollywood (or Fox) listened to the fans! Anyway, for all the latest, head over to the Alien Vs Predator 2 page for all the old and new interviews and rumours.
In other areas, an email from Tanks pointed out that I was missing an old NES game from the Games area! Thanks, Tanks... it's now been archived for prosperity with its kin! Take a look at the Games page and see those games we played in the day.
And one final note -- I'll shortly be closing the poll (have a look further down the page) and taking all the votes into consideration. Looks like there may be some big changes on the way! Until then...
So far there's been no huge advance in the amount of information regarding AvP2, but it'll be out before we know it. I think I can wait easily enough... unless I hear any reports that it's actually going to be good!
Now onto the updates. As far as quiet pages go, there's one that's difficult to add to (due to the 99.99% filled ISP user space), and that's the Downloads page... but this has now changed, with a request from Marci for an AvP Colouring Book! Now, I'd never seen one before, so I thought I'd put my own together from various Dark Horse graphic novels -- and I think it came out pretty good. Go and grab it now for your Predator Pups, in the Downloads area.
And there's also been some action in the Links page, with a couple of new costume-oriented forums from Predmaniac and The Big Gunns. If you were ever thinking of browsing, buying or building Predator or Alien related costumes, these are the places to visit! Check the Misc Predator Links to see what these great sites offer.
And that's all there is for now, see you again next update. Oh and remember, If there's anything you'd like to see added to the site, try emailing The Hunted Mailbag and letting me know about it!
Seems the big news this month is focused on AVP2. After the fiasco at AICN, and misinformation-fuelled rumours aplenty, there's still no definate proof that Fox will or won't go with the much maligned AvP2 script. If you don't know what I'm talking about, head over to the Alien Vs Predator 2 page -- it holds all the old and new interviews and rumours that have been going around since the first movie, and I'll be adding to it when new information comes to light.
And you would of course remember the excellent Predator 'music video' fan-film created by our friend oMaT, right? (See the Movies > Fan Films page for a recap.) Well, he's been working on reencoding all his films using higher-quality codecs and methods as well as revamping some of his older films into new versions. In his own words:
"Predator v3 is simply an evolution from the original fan-film I did a while back. Every time I revisit one of my films I try to sharpen the cuts and make the action a little better. With this film, I felt I'd taken too hokey a path the first and second times through so I thought I'd punch it up and go for straight action. This version has very different editing which I'm quite pleased with but make no mistake, it is a very different movie than v2. I hope you enjoy the new film and keep checking The Hunted for updates."
So, click through to the Fan Films page and check out the offering. Thanks for your great efforts, oMaT! With the disappointing AvP and the presumed-to-be-just-as-dissapointing AvP2 on the way, it's great to see the original film again... every time I see it, it's like meeting an old friend.
Moving right along into another month, there's not been much news on the Movie fronts yet but there's been plenty of feedback from the fans.
There's been a few contributions to the Links page, a couple of additions to the Movies area (well, the Bloopers/Trivia section specifically) and the Yautja Postman has dropped a bunch of letters into The Hunted Mailbag for me as well.
There's even been a picture or two added to the Images gallery, including a nice but unfinished tattoo from Ben R., amongst others. Still working on my ISP (and donations!) to get more server space, I desparately need to add more images - or at least increase the size of them! Stay tuned...
The news today is from Joanna (National Editor Coztume,
Australian Costuming Guild) who offers an invitation to the 10th National Australian Costumers Guild Ball in Adelaide, South Australia on the 26th of August 2006. Although family commitments prevent myself from attending (the lack of a costume doesn't help either), any Aussie folks into Pred cosplay would be crazy not to attend.
As Joanna writes: "Being that Predator and Alien is an excellent costuming opportunity I thought you might like to spread the word to people who are interested in the costuming side of ScienceFiction etc. I'm pretty confident they will have a great evening! Anyone who is interested no matter what skill level or style of costuming can enter and its the National Ball so anyone from any part of Australia can head on down here."
For those interested in attending, or just viewing some of their cool costumes, head over to the Guild's website: www.australiancostumersguild.org.au, and check out the poster (left).
Here we are again with a few new additions to the site. Mostly there's only been some more contributions to the Links page, but there's also been a little action and tidying up elsewhere in the site.
And since it's been so long since I've had a Poll on the site, here is a little offering to find out what you'd prefer to see on here in the future. Keep in mind that I still don't have a huge amount of server space (and any major changes won't happen for a while yet) but I thought it'd be interesting to find out what most people want to see on The Hunted. So take the Poll and let me know! (And if you choose 'Other', make sure you add your request to the Feedback section so I can check it out.
Pred 3, or not Pred 3 -- that is the question!
Post: April 2006
Things seem to have slowed a little recently... could this be the calm before the storm? I'm thinking that soon some 'official' news regarding Alien vs Predator or Predator 3 will be released - we'll have to wait and see.
And speaking of Predator 3, I've finally upgraded the Movies area by boosting the Predator 3 page. It now holds all the old and new interviews and rumours that have been going around since Predator 2, and I'll be adding to it when more info comes to hand.
And of course, there's still some other bits and pieces to add to the site... so nake sure to keep stopping by. Oh, and if you have any spare credits in your account, please consider donating to a worthy cause! Every little bit helps.
There's been even more action for the site this month, and still more to come... I need to add it to the Latest News quickly just so I won't forget what's been updated!
There's been a few more comics inserted into the library, including a missing set of Dark Horse Heroes comics. The series may have been short-lived, but they're a new set of Predator stories nonetheless! So check out Hunting the Heroes: The Predators Attack! in the Comics and Books section.
And a page that's been sadly quiet of late, the Games page, has been blessed with the discovery of another old console game - Aliens Vs Predator: Last of his Clan for the Gameboy Color system. Head over to the Games page to see what it was/is all about.
Speaking of quiet pages, there's been another addition to the Downloads page... a new true-type font added called AvP which is of course based on the AvP title font.
There's still some research to be done, I think there's another couple of Games and Comics waiting to be discovered, so rest assured there's another update coming soon!
Just when you thought I couldn't possibly come up with anymore new Predator related data, here comes the next update!
There's been a few more additions to the Images gallery, including a couple of nice tattoos from Bozo P, and a couple of other random pictures. If there's any particular images you'd like to see added, try emailing The Hunted Mailbag and letting me know!
And finally I've added some new data to the Downloads page. There's the impossible to find script from the Predator 2 movie (well the transcription at least), and a whole bunch of MP3/WAV files from both movies, linked with many thanks to Eyes of the Hunter. I'll add more, and better quality files, at some later stage.
And last but not least is a nicely created fan film (music video), using scenes from the first Predator movie and music from White Zombie and Korn. Check it out in the Movies > Fan Films area!
Until we meet again, let's pray to the Paya that they don't decide to 'remake' the first Predator movie... a Predator restart (or a third movie) would be okay I think, but please leave the near-perfect original alone!
Well it's been quite a busy past few weeks - and as rumors of another Alien vs Predator movie (or even a third Predator movie) are abound, there might be even more Predator information flowing through the 'net.
Let's see... there's been a few more additions to the Images gallery, although not as many as I'd like. There's also a few new links over on the Links page, be sure to keep an eye on it since there's always new pages popping up. Oh and there's another update to the Comics and Books section, adding the three-book series of Superman vs Predator - I thought there was only a TPB. Well, live and learn!
And the other major achievement was to open a PayPal account! So if you have some extra cyber-dollars on your card, please consider a donation... with extra funding for the site there will be new info and downloads added more often, and you will ensure the growth and survival of the site - further, you'll be added to a Hall of Fame, forever known as a true frind of The Hunted! Many thanks, my friends.
Here we go with another update, less than a week after the previous one! Must be some kind of record...
It's more of an add-on to the previous update though, since it's just verifying that the Links page has been finished! The structure and categories have been sorted to separate the Alien/Predator/Misc links, and some nifty new sites have been added. There'll be more to come soon, also!
And the new Quiz? It's already been done! Head on over to the Miscellaneous area and have a go at the next Quiz/Test, named "How well do you know the Predator movie?" and discover your movie knowledge. Hopefully this new test will appease those few folks that weren't impressed by the original.
Well, that's about it for now... the only other bit of interesting news is, recently the number of hits to the site (combined page-views) has passed the 1,000,000 mark! That's an incredible amount of traffic, and I'm both honored and humbled... so thank you all for becoming a statistic!
What, it's February already? Guess that means I'd better do some updating...
Some great news is that there's new Predator stories on the way, from good ol' Dark Horse! The two releases coming in the next couple of months are: a compilation TPB named Aliens/Predator Panel to Panel, and a brand new novel called Predator: Forever Midnight. Fantastic to see there's some adrenalin being pumped into the Predator literary veins - check out the previews in the Comics and Books area and see what's to come!
I'm also in the middle of updating and sorting the Links page... I figured it needed some structure and categorising to separate the Alien/Predator/Misc links, so look forward to that being uploaded soon with a bunch of new links!
And what else is on the horizon? Well for one, there's a new Quiz planned! The first one was received fairly well by most folks - but the biggest complaints I heard were: (1) it made no difference if you knew the Predator culture well or not, (2) the differece between some ranks was just one question answered incorrectly, and (3) some of the correct answers were disputed by die-hard fans. Well, okay, I can take a hint - it was just meant to be a bit of fun anyway - but the next quiz will be much better, trust me!
Okay, enough of me moaning about the lack of Disk Usage checking on my server... if I run out of space while I'm in the middle of uploading files and it causes the site to crash, I guess I'll cope somehow. Hrm.
So, here are some updates! In the lead-up to a whole new section for Fan created stuff (coming soon!), I've added a Fan Costume section to the Images gallery. See what these talented Yautja fans have created!
And speaking of fan creations, there's another brand-new section in the freshly updated Movies area, just for those home made Predator-related movies and short films. Featured on the Predator Fan Films page are just a few that I've managed to find, if there's any I've missed please make sure you tell me about them... we'd all love to see what people can do with an idea, a Pred costume and a camcorder!
There's also a new email in The Hunted Mailbag from Dale, with a question that's asked quite regularly. There might be some more email to come as well, once I can formulate the appropriate answers!
And that's about it, apart from another bunch of new sites on the Links page and some general tidying up. And if I don't manage to update again before next year, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hunted New Year!!
Still no word on the server space, but at least they're working on it. Apparently. They'll get a visit from an Elder or three if they don't sort it out soon!
In the meantime, I've moved most of the entries from this Home page into an Archived News area, coz it was just getting too much. I might do it every 6 or 12 months, depending on how large it gets.
It's also made more room on the page for some new emails, so head on over to The Hunted Mailbag to see what people have been writing.
More updates coming soon! And until then - anyone seen AvP Uncut? Is it any better than the first edition?
After weeks (months?) of hassles from my service provider, I still don't have a definite answer on the state of my web-space. As a result, I haven't added much to the site since there's the chance it might get closed from overuse of quota. Bah.
Nevertheless, I've risked it... and I've uploaded some more pictures, added a section to the Yautja section that deals with Clan symbols (this is now the ONLY site I've seen that shows any of them!) and I've even tinkered away in the Miscellaneous area by adding a "What class of Predator are you?" quiz!
There's going to be more stuff to come too, I've got plans in mind for a few big things so don't think this is all there is. Keep an eye out... oh and by the way, everyone wish The Hunted Messageboard many happy returns - it's celebrating its first birthday! Wow, these last 12 months have just zoomed by...
Aliens Vs Predator Vs Pictures
Post: September 2005
Not a huge amount to report this month, except for a bunch of new and unique Alien Vs Predator movie pictures in the Images area. There's now more pictures from AvP in there than anything else, hopefully I can add some more movie images soon!
I'm also thinking about adding another Gallery folder dedicated to Fan Pictures, comprising of Costumes and such... and possible a whole new site area, just for Predator Collectables and Merchandise - so keep a lookout for these newbies, soon to come.
In the meantime, check out the Alien Vs Predator Images and keep waiting (if you can) for the new additions!
Major updates time! I've added a whole new area, dedicated to the Yautja Homeworld. There's very little information regarding the Yautja's planet of origin, or even if there IS one, but this is my view on the subject. Grab a Ner'uda and drop into the Homeworld for a visit! Don't forget your helmet...
And speaking of Ner'udas, there's also been some maintenance done on the Spacecraft section - mainly new pictures, and some refreshed or updated information. Fasten your safety harness and take a trip in a Spacecraft, Yautja style.
There's still updates afoot, I might add some more Images if there's any room left on my server. Keep it frosty people!
Well, since the poll didn't really answer any questions (except that MOST of us fans think the whole Yautja universe should be lumped together) I decided to 'separate' the Comics/Books/Games information from the Movies information... sort of. In other words, I added a footnote to each page with 'non-canon' content. So for those who think this website isn't canon, now you can see what is and what isn't.
There's also been some goings on over at the Weapons page, with the new information from the latest games in there, and a couple of nice new pics explaining them. Check it out!
And finally, I added a 'Related Pages' box at the base of each page, to make surfing the site a little easier and more interesting. They'll be expanded from time to time, so keep an eye out.
Of course, there's still random tidying-up happening too - so keep watch!
So what do you think of this - two updates in less than a week! NOW try to tell me I'm slacking off!
The biggest happenings are: more pictures in the Images section, and some new links added to the Links area. There's also been a couple minor cosmetic changes, but nobody will see that but me.
And, I decided to close the poll - and here
are the results! Thanks so much everyone... it's great to see
everyone leaving their important vote on this issue.
As I thought, it didn't settle things once and for all, but it's very interesting to see what people think - but all in all, it seems like most people think that all things Predator should be merged together, as I do. But still, there's room for improvement... some changes to come on the site? Maybe - so stick around!
Apart from the addition of a brand new and
spam-free Feedback section,
there's not much to report - but soon there's going to be more
Images and screenshots on the
site, so keep tuned in!
And due to the amount of emails and messages
in the past few months, it seems that most of you folks want
the images I've worked hard to find over the years. So I'll just
use an honor system... if you DO take any pictures, PLEASE make
sure you credit Predator: The Hunted on your site - or
better yet, add a link.
If you just want them for personal use, that's cool, but please
drop me some thanks by sending
an email or just leaving
some good feedback.
And if you DO dishonourably steal images without
a thought for the poor guy who worked hard to get them - then
I hope a Predator finds you, and considers you worthy sport!
So, you think there doesn't seem to have been
a lot of change recently? Well little do you know, I've been
working hard to obtain more server space - and NOW I think I've
got more room to dedicate to all things Pred!
You can expect to see a little action shortly
(even tho there's always plenty happening at The
Hunted messageboard forum) - and remember that just because
you don't see something, doesn't mean it isn't there!
Minor updates time again! There's been a couple
more pictures added in the Images
area, and a bunch of links sitting pretty in the Links
page, so check them out!
And now, you know what? I think I'll conduct
another Poll - it's been a while since the last one. So without
further ado... Do you think Comics / Books about Predator
should be counted as canon (genuine) Predator facts and information?
It's a major argument amongst fans, and I'd
like to get everyone's opinion. Myself, I don't mind that the
Comics and Books are part of Predator culture - they open up
more of the character than just the movies.
Like I said in the F.A.Q./Info page:
Even though the comics are not 'genuine' information, they've
been published and have entered into popular Predator culture,
regardless of people's views. And besides that, Fox themselves
had some say in the writing of the stories - so maybe that makes
Predator Comics and Books almost canon on some level?
Anyway, it's not like this little Poll will
settle it once and for all - but I think it'll make a very interesting
experiment nonetheless!
The Poll is now closed, thanks to everyone who voted! See above for the results.
It's been a little while in between 'major'
updates again, but rest assured that there's always constant
updating being done - even if it's corrections to text, or clarification
of information.
So if anyone tells you that I'm slacking off...
I hope a Predator comes looking for a trophy with their face
on it!
You may (or may not) have noticed, that the
site's menu has been tidied up graphically... and also updated!
There's a new button named F.A.Q./Info
down there, and it contains answers to any questions you may
have about Predator, and this site - and some questions you might
not have even thought of. So go read it!
Finally I also managed to find information
on the elusive Dark Horse Comics story Predator: 1718,
which explains how a Predator obtained the flintlock pistol given
to Harrigan in the movie Predator 2. Head on over to the
Comics and Books section to
check out the story.
And yes, this update might have been a long
time coming, but there should be some regular updates again in
the coming weeks! Stay tuned...
It seems the recent Alien
Vs Predator movie has spawned a bunch of new games, and
not just for your computer - if you've got a compatible Mobile,
you could soon be playing Predator or Aliens vs Predator
on your phone! For a review and pictures, head over to the Games section.
While I was at it, I tidied up the entire
Games area by adding a screenshot
of each game, adding cheats and official sites, and just making
sure everything was up to date. Check them out!
For a while now, I knew there was a bunch
of Predator and AvP stories in the Dark Horse Comics and
Dark Horse Presents comics series, but I knew it'd be
a hassle to find them all. And it was. But it's now done - and
I'm not sure, but I think the Comics
and Books section is now the most comprehensive listing
of Predator publications on the web! Now, if only they were easy
to get hold of...
It was also time to add some more pictures
to the Images area, including
more AvP Arcade Game
animated GIFs, and a few more nice screen-grabs from the Alien Vs Predator movie.
Go see them now!
A New Year has begun, so it's time to start
the updating! After receiving an email from Rampag3
regarding the AvP Arcade
Game, I thought it'd be cool to add some animated images
from it. So check them out in the Images
section.
There's also a few new links in the Links area, which had been getting
neglected for a while... sorry bout that! And if you've got another
link to add, head over to the Links
area and submit your info!
On behalf of Joker and everyone else in The Hunted
community, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Your Christmas
present is... some more updates to the site!
There's another bunch of new pictures in the
Images section, with more on
the way. Hopefully there's enough there to whet your appetite
for now.
I also decided there should be some more stuff
in the Miscellaneous area...
so there's another News story, and a well drawn and funny cartoon.
Check them out.
And will there be anything else added before
2005 starts proper? Well, stay tuned!!
Wow, I managed to add some more updates after
all! I found another Predator-related game, Fox Arcade Sci-Fi
Pinball. Although only one table is dedicated to the Pred,
it's still interesting. Read about it in the Games
section.
There's also a few new images in the Images area, which seems to be getting
the most visits of all The Hunted's pages. I'll be adding
more pics as they come to hand.
And for some reason, I hadn't added a HOME button to the navigation
menu at the left... so I don't know if many people actually found
this front page! Gah. It's now fixed.
Figured it was about time the Music
and Audio section was beefed up a bit. So I added the
Aliens Vs Predator soundtrack
and some WAV audio files.
There's more audio files to come, but they need converting to
MP3 to save space. Keep your ears peeled!
I also tidied up some other sections of the site, and did
some general maintenance. There is still more activity planned
for the site shortly, but don't get too excited - with the Christmas
season almost here, the Santa-stuff might get in the way of progress...
Well, it's been a while, but there's some
new activity on the site! Firstly I decided it was time to add
what little information I could find about Female Yautja, including
a picture - you can see it in the Yautja
section.
And there's more to come, but where the hell does the time
go? Hopefully I'll be able to put up a few more changes in the
next couple of days.
And on another note, The
Hunted messageboard is absolutely kicking. With almost
60 members, thousands of fun and interesting posts, and a newly-added
RPG section, it can only get better! See you there.
There's been a lot of activity lately, with
many new visitors to the site, and many more members registered
The Hunted
messageboard. Welcome all, great to have you aboard!
Along with a bunch of cool folks on the Forum, there's also newly-added
Avatars and stuff, so head on over there and get registered to
check it all out.
I also found it necessary to add an Archive section
to the Feedback pages,
since the size of the textfile was approaching 200kb... which
is fine for ADSL folks, but a bit much people stuck with a 56k
modem -like me. Hopefully all will go well now! (right, Guan?)
;)
And in other news, Alien
Vs Predator is finally out here in Australia. But, I
decided to wait until I can see the Director's Cut version when
it comes out on DVD. I'm really hoping the wait is worth it!
Since the new forum Predator:
The Hunted messageboard was created, I found it really
needed adding to the navigation menu. Which was fine... except
I had to change the menu for every HTML page. About 100 pages.
Pauk! But, I took the opportunity to change all pages
to PHP, so it'll be a helluva lot easier to update in the future.
Just make sure all your bookmarks are up to date.
I also added some more pictures to the Images
section. There's some good ones there... and hopefully I've still
got some room on the server to add more!
Okay, I decided to close the poll, and here
are the results! Thanks so much everyone... it's cool to see
everyone leaving their important vote. I figured 30 votes was
enough - most of them were in the affirmative, so that should
be enough to make an interesting little messageboard community.
So to check it out, head over to the Predator: The Hunted messageboard. Hopefully
it will gain members and popularity, and above all, raise and
answer questions for everybody about our old friend the Yautja!
Keep in mind tho, the Feedback
section is probably where I'll be checking and replying to mostly.
Of course I'll be fairly active in the Messageboard too, but
keeping the website up to date is the priority. Enjoy, everyone!
I couldn't ignore the requests any longer...
so I've added the new/updated weapons from the Aliens Vs Predator
movie to the Weapons page. Have
a look!
There may be some still to add (and I reckon
the Yautja page might need updating as well) but as I haven't
seen the movie yet, and I might even wait for the Director's
Cut version, you'll just have to wait. :)
A couple of minor updates and fixes (regarding
some Weapons and Spacecraft data) have come in from Jerry.
Thanks my friend, it's always good to have a verified data source!
:)
Thanks to a quick note from Tim, I've
updated the Comics and Books
section with a missing Top Cow comic, Overkill. Have a
look at the first ever Top Cow/Dark Horse crossover comic here!
And also, thanks to another note from JeromyDragon,
I've updated the Games section, coz
I was missing an AvP2 sequel and the newest XBox/PS2 offering,
AvP: Extinction. Check out the new games out in the Games section.
Well, the results are in and they can't be
ignored. Thanks to all you voters (especially those that said
'Don't touch'... too bad there weren't more of you)! It seems
that Alien Host was deserving
of a spruce-up after all. (I kinda figured it did anyway, so
I was working on it when I had time.)
It's not completely finished, but the bulk of it is there. Check it out and as always, feel
free to comment.
I decided I should make it easier for people
who want to link to (or be linked from) The Hunted. Also
thought I should make some banners to help with the linking prospects.
So I did.
Check out the Links section
if you want to link, or if you just want to see how great they
look. :)
As you can see, the site has been completely
re-built. It was long overdue, and I think the updated design
suits all the new information well. I'll hopefully be updating
it more often, so please check back every now and then! And if
you have ANY comments, please contact
me.
